nine keeps as little as it can: enough to remember your puzzles, your streak and your records. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.
If you play without an account
Your browser keeps your progress on today's puzzles, your settings and a random device ID. When you start or finish a puzzle, the site sends that device ID, the date, which puzzle, your finished grid and your time to our database, so your time can be checked and compared with other players'. The device ID isn't linked to your name or email.
If you make an account
We keep your email address so you can sign in and your streak and records follow you to any device. When you sign in, we move your guest results onto your account.
If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with our sign-in service. We use only your email address. We never see your Google password.
How your time is compared
The comparison after a speed challenge ("faster than 82% of today's players") is worked out from everyone's times for that day. Other players never see your name, email or individual time.
Who handles your data
- Supabase hosts the database and sign-in.
- Vercel serves the website. Like any web host, it briefly logs requests, including IP addresses.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Our sign-in emails are sent by an email delivery service on our behalf.
The fonts are served from this site, so loading a page doesn't contact anyone else.
Storage in your browser
The site uses your browser's local storage, not cookies, for your puzzle progress, settings and device ID, and, if you sign in, to keep you signed in. Clearing your browser's site data removes all of it; results already linked to an account stay with the account.
Deleting your data
Email jtlim.0908@gmail.com from the address you signed in with and we'll delete your account and every result linked to it within 30 days. Guest results are tied only to a random device ID; clear your browser's site data and they can no longer be linked to you.
Children
nine isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
